Most of the time posts are discussed prior to publishing. Sometimes they are copy edited. But we rarely edit for content unless the writer asks for it.
Blog posting is very different than essay or article writing. Blogs are ideas and discussions in process. Blog posts are not necessarily finished products and for that reason they may contain errors, glitches or inaccuracies.
It may be text but consider a blog closer to speaking than publishing.
We do not condone censorship although understand why a person would choose to censor themselves. But deleting content as a form of censorship is not part of our blogging practice.
I want to make this very clear. There will come a time when someone will cry defamation, libel or plagiarism. At such point we will deal with the situation accordingly. But there is something to be said about deleted content on the web. It is the ultimate desecration of our democratic freedoms. For that matter:
In the event a post becomes the focal point of a dispute; we will alter the post to reflect the dispute's outcome --but we will not delete the post, story, image, podcast, or article in question.
