On hardcovered notebooks

Real artists use their sketchbooks as sex objects, hence the need for 'sturdiness' ;-)

Is this a sighting of the elusive Republican Negro?

IMG00087.jpg

Try as I may, I couldn't make the gentleman stop to speak with me. Actually, when I asked him if he was a Republican, he kind of fast walked away from me. OK ... he did run across the street like I was the plague. So I just started telling him loudly, "C'mon! You can tell me! Don't run away!"; but no, the man was definitely weary of my indentifying him.

So even though he didn't answer my question, I am pretty sure that what we have here is a picture of the "Abjectio Republicanus Africasensis" in the wild.

An endangered political species indeed.

The anonymous producer of this video should have titled it "Rockbama II"

I have to agree with Al Giordano, 2008 is the year of the viral video.

The Democratic Primary in 7 minutes

I posted this awesome video when we were in the old server at the evil web hosting company that failed us miserably for the past 6 months. Yet in the move, we lost the last two entries to the site.

So let me repost this video. It's just too good.

H/T, once again, to Elephant Journal.

EXCLUSIVE : Lyrics and video to "Baby Got Barack"

When I first saw this video over at Seeing The Forest I laughed so hard, everybody in the apartment rushed to see what the hell I was watching. This has been a big hit among my family and friends, so much so that I decided to contact the author and ask them for the lyrics.

manicwithmark was extremly gracious. This is what he had to say :

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I can't do Flash animation, and I don't look quite as sexy as Obama Girl in a skin tight tank top, so doing a picture collage was pretty much my only option. Some of the references were for stuff going on in the news around the time I posted it eight months ago, which during primary season is an eternity. But hopefully it still stands up.

I can't believe it has been around for 8 months now. I eat this stuff up and it just went under my radar. So without further ado, I give you "Baby Got Barack".

From the vaults : Racial Tension Headache

The kind of triangulating race-bating the Clintonistas have unleashed on Barack Obama is giving me and a lot of other negroes a communal headache.

In times like these, it is necessary to break open a bottle and pop a few in the hopes of not having to invoke the name of Rodney King.

Enjoy!

Words to live by

I treat my writing like a privilege. It comes after editing the work of others and helping children learn proper grammar while developing their own style and voice. It comes after making sure my child's homework is done and making sure she is fed, clothes, and educated. It comes after everything. Scraps of stories and poems languish , missing deadlines and submission dates. There is no room of my own. My writing is interrupted constantly by requests and vacuuming and cries for food and attention and I feel guilty saying no, I am working on something that is mine. Thus I devalue my own work, my own voice.
