Hypocricy

British Royal Family Put Bush Family to Shame

UPDATE: As I guessed, Prince Harry is being withdrawn now that the press has let the cat out of the bag that he is over there.

Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne, wanted to go Iraq when the unit he was serving in was deployed. He wanted to do his duty. They didn't let him because of the danger.

But it turns out, he has actually been serving in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban.

I am no big fan of Royalty, and Brit Royalty in particular seem a bit silly. But right now, America, with a VP and most of the Republican Party that are chickenhawks, and a President that is not only a chickenhawk but went AWOL from his cushy non-combat position daddy Bush landed him, I have to tip my hat to the British Royal Family. They put themselves on the line where their nation's aggression goes...and they always have.

From BBC news:

Prince Harry has been fighting the Taleban on the front line in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

Harry, 23, who is third in line to the throne, has spent the last 10 weeks serving in Helmand Province.

Fornigate: Rudy With His Pants Down

Sometimes it seems the vast majority of Republicans are corrupt. From run of the mill political scandals right down to pedophilia, the vast majority of political scandals are Republican scandals. The layers of hypocricy and corruption always amaze me.

The latest of course is Rudy Giuliani, using the NYPD to shuttle around his mistriss on taxpayer money. In many ways this is small potatoes next to the far more massive corruption of people like Missouri's Blunt family, Tom Foley's pedophilia and Bush's own scandals. But it could be the kind of scandal that Republicans hate most. Cheating on your wife at taxpayer expense probably isn't going to sit well with conservatives. And let's face it, although the Republican-biased media would probably downplay this scandal, during a Republican primary Rudy's Republican rivals are not going to let the scandal die. In fact one could argue that Huckabee's only chance of winning is to make sure this scandal sticks on Rudy.

But any good scandal needs a name. Otherwise people just won't notice it. Over at Daily Kos they have held a contest and come up with "Sex on the City" for the name of the scandal. They are pretty gleeful about that name and I admit it's pretty good. It really sums it all up nicely. Problem is it isn't going to really appeal to the average blue collar American. It's a cultural reference many conservatives won't really resonate with.

Hating Rudy Giuliani

[UPDATE: Rudy's credibility takes another hit as his own former emergency management director, and Bush's 2002 choice to plan for preparedness for WMD attacks, SLAMS Giuliani as being "...a control freak who micro-manages decision, he has a confrontational character trait and picks fights just to score points. He is the last thing this country needs as president right now." Seems NO ONE who knows him likes or respects Rudy Giuliani.]

Rudy Giuliani is, by many accounts, the Republican frontrunner. Ignore for a moment that most Republicans will not like his pro-choice stand. The real question is will Americans like his anti-firefighter and anti-family positions.

Many American's don't really know Rudy yet. Here in NY we had him as mayor and we know what he is really like: a selfish, bullying man whose acomlpishments are overshadowed by his friendship with a mob-connected cop (who Rudy appointed Police Commissioner despite KNOWING about the mob connections), his poor treatment of firefighters, even after their heroic efforts on 9/11, and his poor performance as a father.

I have already discussed the fact that New York Firefighters detest Rudy Giuliani. Firefighters DESPISE Giuliani. He was partly responsible for the deaths of many firefighters on 9/11, having refused to upgrade the radio equipment for firefighters so that it would actually work. He also conspired with the Bush administration to hide the fact that the smoke from ground zero was toxic, thus condemning many surviving firefighters to respiratory disease that cut short their careers...and probably their lives. Firefighters have publicly advised America to "not just say no, but HELL NO to Rudy Giuliani".

British Royal Family Put Bush Family to Shame

Prince Harry is going to Iraq.

Prince Harry will be deployed to Iraq with his regiment, the head of the British army has said...

Clarence House and the MoD confirmed the prince would be sent to Iraq with his regiment, the Blues and Royals, saying he would take on a "normal troop commander's role" rather than a desk job.

Wow...a nation whose leaders actually SERVED in war. Bush crawled away in a drunken stupor and pissed himself (or a police car) rather than serve. Wait...let's see how Bush really served his country:

Just about the entire Republican Party leadership are chickenhawks who never dreamed of serving their nation. At least Democrats elected a whole slew of combat veterans in 2006 to show that we respect and admire our troops.

An Open Letter to Michael Bouldin on the "F" Word and the "P" Word

[EDITOR'S NOTE: It should be made clear to anyone reading this that Mr. Holland, who is so primly lecturing on appropriate speech, has openly advocated that Elizabeth Edwards should die so that Hillary Clinton can be annointed president. I should note that Hillary's campaign is not so thrilled with this kind of advocacy and our readership was overwhelmingly disgusted by several of Mr. Holland's posts, most particularly his advocacy of Elizabeth Edwards' death. So, as you read this, keep this in mind. I have edited Mr. Holland's tags to indicate this.]

"Many Black men and women who respect themselves and respect their readers simply don't use four-letter vulgarities in their writing, as a rule."

Michael, although there are more than 200 posts at my blog over three months, and many more comments, if you search for the "F" word, you will discover that YOU, Michael, are the only person who has EVER used that word at my blog. This was in the context of a comment you wrote defending the radical atheist and anti-religious agenda of many white atheist/agnostic "progressives" whitosphere blogs.

You see, many Black men and women who respect themselves and respect their readers simply don't use four-letter vulgarity in their writing, as a rule.
