Pornography

TLC needs to stop with their breedsploitation programming

I have to give it to Hugh Hefner and Larry Flynt --at least they are sincere peddlers of pornography. Not so Discovery Channel and the people who run their subsidiary The Learning Channel who've become champions of breedsploitation.

Here at culturekitchen we have written through out the years about how right-wing messaging around pregnancy and breeding falls more into categories of pornography than actual decency and morality. Forced pregnancy advocates --the so called "right to lifers"-- are more excited about the prospect of forcing themselves sexually on women through anti-reproductive rights legislation than they are about promoting family values. They may call it "saving the unborn" but what is at work is not just a fetus fetish, but a desire of total control, domination and subjugation of women.

So it's no wonder that this pornographic idea of women --that women somehow live only to breed on demand-- is something that's become a whole cottage industry in reality TV. A cottage industry completely controlled, it seems, by TLC.

Can we talk about Lindsay Lohan's fashion debut with Ungaro?

I rarely talk about fashion in this blog but after a week of Roman Polanski and John Phillips pervscapades, I think we need to turn our heads to Paris France and look at what's ruffling the feathers of the fashion world thanks to Lindsay Lohan.

Yes, I am making a connection between two rapist pedophiles (one of them also being incestual), an up-and-coming fashion designer and Lindsay Lohan. Bear with me.

When it was announced several weeks ago that La Lohan was going to work as "artistic advisor", the fashion world exploded in disbelief. Tim Gunn, bless him, went on record as saying, “It’s got to be a publicity stunt!” ...“Or a crack-smoking board of directors?”

This was not going to go like Stella McCarthey working for Chloe. Lindsay Lohan's twitter stream is notorious for how it shows her inability to writer properly. This is a girl from the white-collar working class of Long Island with no formal education and a present by a recent regrettable past.

There's the shots of her pantiless crotch while disembarking cars. There's the endless parties drowned in alcohol and cocaine which some say were cover for her mother's addictions. There's the alleged new penchant for meth. There's the bulimia and anorexia. There's the nymphomania. There's the mother trying to shove her down deep into the closet throwing her into the arms of men when she only wanted to be with gals. There's the revolving door rehabbing. There's the promise of a young actor now shattered by her inability to move from child/teen sensation to being an actual adult movie star.

So why in the bloody hell would she be hired for this? On the surface it would make sense to thinkk about the publicty since Mounir Moufarrige, the chief executive of Ungaro has said so himself : his main goal in hiring Ms. Lohan was to generate publicity, he said he also believes she will excite consumers. Yet check out the following quote from the same article (emphasis mine):

So what's a good time to watch porn-on-demand in Great Britain?

It seems like Sunday mornings, at around 11:16 GMT --that is, if randy Britainers aren't throwing sheep at each other in social networking sites:

BBC NEWS | Technology | Porn putting on its Sunday best

Analysis of viewing figures shows peak demand for FilmOn's "naughty movies" was around 1116 GMT on Sunday.

By contrast, internet analysts Hitwise found that usage of video sites peaked on Sundays but more traditional adult sites experienced a dip.

Sundays, it said, was the top day for visits to internet shopping and social networking sites.

Oh behave, you Great Britain, you.

"Girls Gone Wild" pornographer faces 10 years in prison

I asked not long ago why guys suspected of dowloading child pornography end up in jail yet Joe Francis, who is actually making the porn (allegedly by not knowing some of the girls were 15 years old) or by using it as a marketing metaphor (young nubile girls wild with sex), gets scot free.

Well, he may not have gotten nailed for child pornography and sexual assault but he got nailed by tax evasion --and faces 10 years in prison if found guilty :

The indictment of 34-year-old Joe Francis Wednesday follows his arrest by federal marshals Tuesday on a contempt-of-court citation stemming from a civil case in Florida, where he is being held without bail, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Wednesday's charges alleged that Francis deducted more than $20 million in false business expenses on corporate income tax returns filed in 2002 and 2003 by two of his companies, Mantra Films Inc. of Santa Monica and Sands Media Inc. of Nevada. The charges were revealed in press releases issued by the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service.

According to the L.A. Times, the alleged improper deductions included $3.78 million that was counted as a business cost when it was actually spent to build a residence in Punta Mita, Mexico. In addition, $10.4 million in "false consulting services" was deducted, as was a $500,000 false insurance expense, according to the indictment cited by The Times.

Compassionate Michelle Malkin chooses hard-core porn star and male prostitute over feminist bloggers

Not only that, Matt Sanchez, who also worked as a male prostitute, claims to be "bad at being gay".

Towelroad has the whole story. And, get this, Pat at Towelrod met him 18 years ago --as a gay man.

Could he have gone to the same rehab center as Ted Haggard?

Anyhow, this is the drivel Michelle Malkin posted about the 'situation':

Last night, hate-filled liberals on MSNBC attemped to smear Marine Corporal Matt Sanchez and conservatives who honored him at CPAC for his support of the military at Columbia University. They gleefully showed photos of Cpl. Sanchez at the event--including ones I took--in mockery after his gay porn past was outed by left-wing blogs. They cackled "Semper Fi."

I said the other day I thought CPAC organizers would be justified in being embarrassed if the rumors about Sanchez's porn star past 15 years ago turned out to be true. Well, the rumors are true. But it is neither CPAC nor Cpl. Sanchez who should feel embarrassed.

Wow! Sister is so compassionate. I had no idea given all the digital ink she wasted in calling Amanda Marcotte a nut during her Christian League vs. Edwards Bloggers debacle.

Alas, a blog and good feminist business practices

Location

United States

There are days that I honestly just want to throw in the towel and just say, "The hell with it!"

Barry Deutsch of Alas A Blog did what no business saavy blogpreneur would have done for less than a million dollars : He sold off Amptoons.com to a pornography company that wants to raise the search engine ranking of their sites.

As I wrote in the comments section of I sold Amptoons.com, comments are now open, Barry could have chosen to speak to other blogpreneurs in his search for a better educated decision about this deal. Alas, it didn't happen.

Here's some of the problems I see with this deal:

  1. How much is too much or too little for a domain name? Amptoons is the name of his cartooning brand. Did he have anybody evaluate and estimate the worth of Amptoons in the market? Did he actually have someone assess the actual monetary value of his domain name?

  2. One of the most serious issues I have with his move is that Barry didn't seem to understand how he could have monetized better his site. If he was eventually selling the site to a link farm, why not just sell a subdomain and still hold ownership of his domain name?
  3. Wouldn't this deal constitute a self-inflicted tarnishing of his trademark? And if he has to fight for his cartoons' copyright and trademark eventually, wouldn't this deal prove he has no legal grounds to defend it because he was so eager to sell it off in the first place?

My head has been spinning with tons of questions.
