Sonia Sotomayor
A friend of mine knows: Sotomayor "hard to BS"
A friend of mine is running for city council in my district in NYC. I have known Jo Anne Simon for several years and she is currently one of the district leaders for my area. I have also endorsed her for City Council. Locally Jo Anne Simon is best known for being one of only a handful of district leaders to stand up to local corruption. Nationally, she is known for he role as an advocate for disabled rights. I recently learned that in this capacity she has first hand knowledge of what it is like to argue before Judge Sotomayor, and I think her comments are worth knowing as Sotomayor is scrutinized for her Supreme Court nomination.
This is from Jo Anne Simon's campaign website:
In a letter to New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, Jo Anne Simon, civil rights attorney and candidate for the 33rd City Councilmatic District, strongly advocated for the appointment of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the United States Supreme Court and thanked the Senators for recommending her.

Five Facts AMERICA NEEDS to Know About Sonia Sotomayor
Meticulously anal pundits, like Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh, intellectual heavy weights Tom Tancredo, and ex-convict/current actor/ radio personality G. Gordon Liddy have exposed Judge Sotomayor for what she really is: a KKK-supporting, racist, menstruator/pre-menstruator who hates white people and speaks to aliens.
Sotomayors' own beliefs confirm she is a Racist, Sexist, Elitist, Class-Warfare-Inciting Nazi. You be the judge!

Sonia Sotomayor and the Republican Party: The Last Straw and the Last Nail
White male Republicans are going out of their way to attack, denigrate and insult Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Only occasionally do they discuss her legal decisions (something that is perfectly reasonable to analyze and discuss). Mostly they seem to attack her just because she isn't a white male. Newt Gingrich. Rush Limbaugh. The whole Rogues Gallery of racist Republicans have been whining about Sotomayor's nomination.
Funny thing is, Republicans seem to forget that they need to attract women voters and Hispanic voters. But it seems they won't do ANYTHING to actually help women or Hispanics. And the great irony is that they are attacking a Hispanic woman judge who had been appointed by George H. W. Bush...a Republican.
The sad people who have the thankless job of trying to attract Hispanics to the Republican Party are sounding warnings that I am pretty sure few Republicans will listen to. From the Chicago Tribune:

Reactions to Sotomayor Nomination
The National Jewsih Democratic Council issued this statement regarding the Sotomayor nomination:
Obama Makes the Right Choice with Selection of Sotomayor to the Supreme Court
NJDC welcomes President Barack Obama’s selection of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to fill the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy. With the selection of Sotomayor, Obama has shown sound judgment and profound respect for our nation’s highest court by selecting an individual who has strong credentials, is highly regarded, and is committed to our constitutional values, rights, and liberties.
We are also proud of Obama’s commitment to have the Supreme Court reflect America’s rich and diverse population, by selecting the first Hispanic justice. More importantly, the President’s nominee has the intellectual capacity and real world experience to be a world class justice.
We applaud this selection and expect the nomination of Sotomayor to receive Senate confirmation in a timely manner.
