But It Went TOO Far
into PC Land imo, to give in-your-face Etheridge the best movie song award.
C'mon, OBVIOUSLY DreamGirls was three times as deserving of movie song recognition, and I guess just split its own vote three ways?
Was the Academy just bound and determined to round out the Gore lovefest, deck out the whole event in matching green and maybe as a bonus make Ellen look mainstream, even conservative in comparison?
So IT getting best song seemed the most egregious "statement-over-merit" of a night kinda heavy in same, to moi. But maybe I'm just feeling more than usually cranky about Hollywood and the cult of celebrity this year. Anybody ever notice that cult and culture sound an awful lot alike, and wonder why?
