That's not "common"
...it's "illegal". You can't raise funds in the name of a candidate unless you're in fact doing so for a candidate. In 2004, the DNC was barred from using John Kerry in its fundraising pitch until after the Boston convention. If this is indeed being done by a PAC, which I highly doubt - PACs are limited to $5,000 per cycle to a Federal candidate - it could plausibly be construed as wire fraud, which is a federal felony.
More likely, the company hasn't updated its web site yet.
And let me put down, for the record of Stupid Wallnerisms, the idea that Obama has so much money that he doesn't need to do phone-based fundraising. That's so off-base that it richly deserves inclusion in the top ten of Wallnerisms.
But as I've said before, the ability to log on to a blog doesn't imply that one actually has the competence to say something of merit.
