Support Hillary's Mexican-American Woman Campaign Chief

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I've heard some anti-immigrant sentiment recently but I'm not feeling it. I'm proud that Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, Patti Solis Doyle, is Mexican-American, second-generation. Diversity works for the Democratic Party.

Today, I received the following e-mail from Patti Solis Doyle:

Date: Sat, 31 Mar 2007 09:35:02 -0400 (EDT)

From: "Patti Solis Doyle, Hillary for President"

To: francislholland@yahoo.com

Subject: RE: I never could have anticipated

Dear Francis,

I just got off the phone after giving Hillary an update on our online fundraising before tonight's FEC deadline. We're both blown away by the incredible response to the message she sent yesterday.

Now there are just a few hours left. At midnight tonight, we have to close the books on the first quarter. When all the campaigns' fundraising reports come out, they will set the tone of the race for months to come. As Hillary's campaign manager, I'm telling you right now, every dollar we bring in before midnight will make a difference.

Please help us make the last few hours before our midnight deadline a huge success by making a contribution today.

Thank you for your continuing enthusiastic support -- we could not do this without you.

Sincerely,

Patti Solis Doyle

P.S. With just a few hours to go, we need you to act right now. Can you forward this message to your friends and family and ask them to join you in supporting Hillary?

I like women who lead and who come right out and say what they want and need, e.g., "I'm telling you right now, every dollar we bring in before midnight will make a difference." The leadership women are providing these days, at this level, is truly revolutionary. I want to support that in any way I can.

What does this white supremacy mean in day-to-day life? One recent study found that in the United States, a black applicant with no criminal record is less likely to receive a callback from a potential employer than a white applicant with a felony conviction. In other words, being black is more of a liability in finding a job than being a convicted criminal. Into this new century, such discrimination has remained constant.

That's white supremacy. Many people, of all races, feel and express prejudice, but white supremacy is built into the attitudes, practices and institutions of the dominant white society. It's not the product simply of individual failure but is woven into society, and the material consequences of it are dramatic.
