This is one item in the Labor Appropriations Budget bill, that includes $158 billion in funding for things like Medicare and Medicaid and many other critical services. The reality is that with a republican president and a bare majority in the senate, nothing is going to get done without bipartisan support.

That still provides no excuse--NONE--for having increased the funding by $27 million more than Bush even asked for.

I'm done with excuses from Democrats who claim to care about women's health, kids' health, and public health, but fall all over themselves to fund the same Religious Right abstinence industry whose secondary purpose (its primary purpose, as ever, being the further enrichment of Bush cronies) is to defeat any attempt to promote those causes. Done.
