Bolivia Parallel
This made me think of something I recently read on BBC about talk of civil war in Bolivia. The wealthy are arming themselves and talking of civil war because they are feeling threatened by Evo Morales' seizure of power. Although I may or may not agree with all Morales does, what struck me is that these people seemed outraged that a damned Injun was taking away their special privileges and DARING to aim for a more equitable society.
Then I find the parallel discussion in the Obama thread an interesting contrast. We are being criticized for not simply going to Obama's website if we want information about him...as if none of us thought of that and as if the Obama campaign never heard of "outreach." There is a tinge of Naderite smugness around Obama supporters...though interestingly not around Obama himself from what I can tell.
