On one of the mailing lists I was, a fight broke out because I dared to point out that a "progressive" online publication did not have one blog published by a black or latino person on their blogroll.

Several white owners of blogs took it to say that they had no POC blogging on their blogs and were offended. I insisted that they didn't count because the blogs were not OWNED by people of color. One of them was even more offended because that meant they couldn't reap the rewards of validating people of color as their contributors. It would mean then they'd have to stand as equals and even as competitors on that blogroll.

Unfuckingbelievable.
