I was thinking about many of these issues this morning, although not in as complex a manner as you. I was just thinking about how the meme of this being "the homos' fault" couldn't be far behind in the scandal.
Much of this reminds me of what happened when anti-porn feminists got into bed with Fundies. On the surface, there seemed to be common cause to be found in the idea that disparate power relations played out in pornography was harmful--but suddenly, sex and erotica became the enemy, not the abuse of power.
We need to be very careful about the Foley scandal. And you are right to point all of that out. Thank you.
