First of all, please cross-post this at MLW, if you don't mind. I think it would be great fodder for discussion.
Certainly, the feminist movement in this country was mobilized by the awful treatment that women received in the Civil Rights and Anti-war movements, where many reported that their jobs were to make coffee, keep their legs open and their mouths shut.
Your discussion of liberation theology, and the falling apart of the revolution in Nicaragua is right on and insightful.
