Listen to the little children
I think our newspaper cancelled Earthday in 2006. Maybe it was because in 2004 the fellow who was to be our representative in the State house got beat by the fellow whose sales pitch was for Jesus. First fellow joined the "save our Smokies" or some such group. Never mind about the second guy. He's still legislating.
But I want to address the new phenomemon of how the Evangelicals have taken on the stewardship question. It's almost as though they read Al Gore's book (pre-2000).
Let's face it. Most folks (make that voters) believe God (whatever God is to them) wants us to keep the earth healthy. And children are happy to pick up their elders' trash.
Maybe we can convince the public schools to put Earthday back into the curriculum. Children must hear it from the "establishment" before they are old enough to cruise the streets in their first cool car.
