Editorial Guidelines

I am going to put all new contributors into "training mode"

I am really excited by the all the recent activity happening on the site. 2007 will bring many more contributors to culturekitchen and we look forward to giving them the blog as a platform. yet, in order to this properly, I need to hand down editorial and style guidelines that will ease the posting process.

I apologize to SteamGeek and others who have been given front page status, but I am going to rescind that for now until I get the guidelines published. I hope to have those by tomorrow evening.

You all can still post but your work won't immediately go to the front page. This will ensure that we, the editorial team, will be able to give the posts a comb-through for style and editorial consistency before going to the front page.

Once the guidelines are published, I would like you to take at least a week or two to get the hang of things. THEN we'll give you front page privileges.

Again, I apologize the inconvenience with this matter; but as publisher I have to ensure the quality of our blogging.

OK, let it rip.

Words to live by

"We all agree that neither the Government nor political parties ought to interfere with religious sects. It is equally true that religious sects ought not to interfere with the Government or with political parties. We believe that the cause of good government and the cause of religion suffer by all such interference."

— -- Rutherford B. Hayes, Statement as Governor of Ohio, 1875, from Albert J. Menendez and Edd Doerr, The Great Quotations on Religious Freedom
