OPEN THREAD : Monday Morning Housekeeping

After the PDF Conference I thought I was going to have a much needed lull and a slow down of work. Not so. Another round of invitations to conferences came in along with some much needed consulting work.

I also have had to deal with the impact of grieving --I wasn't expecting the tidal wave of emotions that came with the loss of Steve Gilliard. Then there's the patriarchy at home and what he thought was minor surgery. The poor man had some basal cells removed from his face last week. He has been at home for the past 5 days all battered and bruised and stitched up like a modern day gothic monster. We call him Daddy Frankenstein.

Anyhow, this week I can finally focus on doing a bit of updating to accommodate some new features we have along with the old ones we were able to rescue in the last upgrade.

So what's on your plate?

Separation of Church and State

Americans United for Separation of Church and State and The Interfaith Alliance Foundation have combined forces to encourage all Americans to put "First Freedom First" -- www.firstfreedomfirst.org

As James Madison circulated his Memorial and Remonstrance with petitions to gather support for Thomas Jefferson's Act for Establishing Religious Freedom, the First Freedom First organization is circulating a petition to get signatures from citizens who are interested in safeguarding separation of church and state and preserving religious liberty for all Americans.

I encourage all freedom-loving Americans to sign the petition, tell your friends, encourage them to sign it, and host a house party to discuss this issue.

Monday Open Thread : When paparazzi attack

Photo courtesy of LiveJournal's Oh No They Didn't

I usually have a heart of stone for celebrities who complain about having their privacy invaded, especially those who like Britney Spears are wanton to selling their newborn kids' pictures to the highest bidder and what not, but this picture just broke my heart.

She was coming out of a car with her kid in tow, when she twisted her ankle and almost dropped her baby to the amusement and photo frenzy of every paparazzi in sight.

Maybe I'm overreacting but I think people who stalk and photograph celebrities for a living are fucked up human beings but for them to attack a pregnant woman like Spears and drive her to tears just puts them on a whole different league. They're just inhuman.

Why? Why do people do this?!?

SITES'S UP AGAIN!

I guess we're getting pounded. It's not everyday you can get inside a grey lady's breaches.

Makes me sad though. She must be totally demented and out of it. Can you believe the plumbeous lady still has no idea I am in there and posting to that blog?!?!

Clinton had to raise the stakes by raising the bar: It’s Tuesday or bust.

And along with victimhood, Clinton has finally found a powerful theme, the same theme that George W. Bush used at his convention and in his reelection campaign in 2004: Vote for me or die.

With her “3 a.m. phone call” ad, she is saying exactly what Bush said: I will protect you and your children, and the other guy will not.

Yes, there is irony in a Democrat trying to getting the nomination by adopting a Republican tactic, but, hey, you know what? It worked back then, and Clinton is betting it will work now.
