He was "fired", hee, hee, hee...
So,
I was visiting a blog I found while seeking and found more words about the CBS, radio personality, nappy haired ho fiasco.
The blogger was saying something to the effect of "Who would have known this man would have actually been fired. Usually, someone in the public eye would get a slap on the wrist along with some community hours or some cultural sensitivity training."
I commented saying something to the effect of:
"I don't think what happened to that radio announcer has anything to do with public outcry. This is the media we're talking about, remember? Their motives are often obscure and convoluted, yet always related to money and power...."
So, I'm trekking way outside the box because the view is always better out here. I'm doing stream of consciousness writing trying to free associate so that I can get a grasp of what has potentially happened here...very different to what has been presented for herd...I mean...public consumption.
I thought about attention. The media thrives off keeping the public interested in their product, not information, but confabulation.
"CBS has gotten a lot of attention out of this fiasco. It's been negative attention. But who knows what the actual purpose of this man's words were?"
So, I tried to add up some pieces.
"He was in their employ. Publicly, he's been fired. Does anyone know what they've chosen to do with him privately? Does anyone know what his severance package looks like? Does anyone know if this was part of a whole other project?"
Good questions. My answer?
"We just don't know. We know what CBS has shared. We know what the public outcry looked like."
Then, the lightbulb...
"Oh, I just realized...that sense of vindication. The exhilaration of millions knowing they had enough clout to move a media corp."
This is pivotal.
"The amerikkkan public has been saying for quite some time that the media is rigged, coopted that it doesn't reflect what actually goes on. People haven't been watching the news because they don't think the news is true.
Even more generally they've been loosing faith in corporations what with all the negative PRESS about evil, unethical corporations stealing from investors, poioning the land, raking in billions. There hasn't been any faith. But people have also been dejected and feeling too overtly controlled. They haven't felt like powerful citizens. And this means that they might not have been as interested in investing in societal charades created by the upper classes to keep the masses in check and invested in their own demise.
And now...ta-DA!
CBS "listens" to its public! In blogland, the big name bloggers are happy. The big name feminist and race bloggers are happy. They spread happy energy and hopeful stories about what this could mean for the future of citizen dissent. In realtime, the public is happy. And when amerikkkans are happy, they reinvest in corporations and in the state.
Blue pills for EVERYONE!
CBS stock is going to go through tha ROOF! Has anyone checked to see what their stock looked like before this fiasco and what it looks like now that they've "fired" this man? Sweet."
