Move over John Edwards the deals already done

Move over John Edwards the deals already done

So I see another fortunate son has taken the bit and wants to run (again) for the prez

Now he's a fortunate son because despite the fact his parents worked shit jobs he has had a blessed career. In addition, he's part of a sub group of lawyers who combined with their good looks and public speaking skills feel ordained to run the country for us. In other words he's just another Democratic political hack

So he's going to save the world and especially America by:

Provide moral leadership in the world

Yeah? How by disavowing the last century's and this past few years activities in international affairs, apologizing for our misbehavior, manipulating world economics to the favor of our large corporations and stopping their continued efforts to do so? And, establishing a period of defensive power centered (There will always be assholes we have defend ourselves against but no more "preemptive strikes": you just don't want our retaliation.) isolationism where by law, US companies cannot engage in international economic activities and our military force is no longer at their disposal?

Strengthen our middle class and end poverty

Yeah? How by raising the minimum wage to something that families can use to actually buy food and shelter without going on the government dole? Will he shut down "Social Security" admitting it was never designed to succeed in its original promises and admit it became a slush fund for congress to steal extra taxes from the middle class?

And stopping extra taxation on the middle class, controlling the value of the dollar to bring back a period when it doesn't require two wage earners per household to break even?

Guarantee universal health care for every American

Yeah Right. While I can't get healthcare with insurance because I'm incapable of affording the co-pay for tests I need, my doctors admit there's a vast conspiracy to set up the baby boomers to die so we can escape from the debt of paying social security. Die Die Die screamed the Tick Tock Man (Read Harlen Ellison and you'll get it). You have as much chance of changing this one as President as sprouting wings out your ass.

Lead the fight against global warming

Get America and other countries off our addiction to oil

Oh yeah? Chain Global Warming with getting off the oil addiction. I don't want a goddam car that burns gasoline. Where's my option to buy bio-diesel or a car with an engine that can do that. Nazis waged World War II without oil and almost won. They didn't lose for lack of fuel. Can the president unilaterally ban fossil fuel? Will he?

But what's big bad John's solution to all these problems? "We all have to work together." OH and don't forget to contribute to his campaign and join "One Corps" his peace corp. sounding grass roots political group. Soon he'll have his own brown shirts. But hey forget the fact that presidential candidates are selected by big money who can prove they can get the donations in first. Look at the history of recent politics behind George W Bush and his daddy, Bill Clinton and his evil twin Hillary, and even Ronald Reagan The conservative god who started his career by waging war on hippies in Kalifornia.

How Democratic Party like. Forget decades of control by big money and power that lead us down this road. You're empowered! If we all get together, hold hands, have a candle light vigil, we can fix this. That's why when push came to shove, the Democratic Party looked in their pants couldn't find their balls and voted for every constitution violation offered their way and despite endless reason and the opportunity refuses to impeach the evil clown in the White House.

But don't worry if John Edwards can't make the cut then we have Hillary unless she's trumped by Condoleezza Rice. I see your White Female candidate and offer a Black female candidate who actually knew a little black girl that got blown up by white racist domestic terrorists. Boom!! We have another Republican apparatchik President.

And this is the best the dems have to offer? We're so screwed. It's time to stop voting with ballots and use bullets.

Dan

Anger is a tricky thing. It can motivate people, but it can also repel. I wrote last week, for example, that antiwar protests are more effective when protesters are serious but not angry. That's because people who are not angry at the same things you are will be uncomfortable with your anger. If you want to persuade people to see your point of view, it helps to do it in a not-angry way.

Blogging, on the other hand, is not about persuasion as much as it is about peeling away layers of socially conditioned bullshit to get at bare-bones truth. A good blogger is an honest blogger. I'd say to any blogger that if you're angry, dig into yourself to find the source of your anger and blog it. Don't worry about what the neighbors will think.
