I love Bernie Mac because he found the funny in the pain of truth

This is the infamous clip from The Original Kings of Comedy. I fell in love with Bernie Mac ten thousand times again after this movie.

This is the story of his sister's children living with him. His sister was allegedly a drug addict who lost custody of her kids and Bernie took them in so the court wouldn't separate them. He talks of his trials and tribulations raising the children after years of being "childless" (his daughter was at the time 25 and living on her own).

Bernie talked the truth not just of his family but of the reality of a lot of black folks --and I am not just referring to gringo blacks, but to all Negro families in the hemisphere of América. You can have in one family, even among siblings, one living The Middle Class Dream while the other is still stuck in Ghetto Hell.

Maroon 5 is a hit among the under 10 years-old crowd

Maroon5's "Makes me wonder" is indeed a catchy tune, but, BY BLOG! I have just now ticked the tenth time I've listened to this song today.

In my home, MTV has no relevance whatsoever with my kids. YouTube is where the music video action. At first I thought there was some bizarre reason for their obsession with this song.

Then I observed what they were doing and I got it: One of their favorite things about YouTube are the music videos and mashups made with games and movie previews. The mashup "It's raining 300 men" is incredibly popular with my kids and their friends.

So it's no wonder they are playing Makes Me Wonder, while playing SoulCalibur 2. The song and the tempo are perfect for the kind of combat movement the characters indulge in. Also, the story line that you can create with that game goes perfect with the song. SoulCalibur involves characters who seem to have complex relationships with each other, in a way that involes 'breaking each other's hearts' by entering in combat.

Check out the lyrics to the song and you'll see what I mean:

How do you know you're not just getting old but are just plain old?

MTV is now a lifestyle network:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - MTV on Wednesday unveiled a new scheduling strategy that will reshuffle and expand its primetime lineup. In addition, the lifestyle programming network has greenlit two series, one featuring "Jackass"'
Bam Margera and the other centered on wrestling.

WTF! I guess the music part of Music TV is just a metaphor.

Play makes children nimble—neurobiologically, mentally, behaviorally—capable of adapting to a rapidly evolving world. That makes it just about the best preparation for life in the 21st century.
