Adventures in Liberal Hypocrisy

So Latinos (along with Asians, Native Americans and other 'minorities') are the real ghosts in the media machine. Not that I needed Media Matters to tell me that :

The nearly complete absence of Latinos from the cable shows' guest lists is particularly notable. In 2004, the U.S. Census estimated that Hispanics made up 14 percent of the American population; given patterns of population growth, that number is undoubtedly higher today. Yet Hispanics made up less than 2 percent of the guests on these programs during these three weeks. In fact, this number represents a total of only 13 guest appearances, six of which were by Geraldo Rivera.

No better, by the way, for Asians, Native Americans and other 'minorities'.

The problem with the MSM's corrections to these problems is to get a neo-nazi Speedy Gonzalez look-a-like to be the talking 'cabeza' du jour.

Or, even better --they do as Media Matters and hire just one guy with a latino-sounding name.

PS : Ann Bartow smacks them down with more feminist snarks and numbers.

PS2 : So the only black dude over at Media Matters is Oliver Willis? I guess funding the Instapundit of Democratic Party doesn't allow them anymore money for any "diversity charities".

Hypocrites.

Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the link. Supposedly Liberal Dood hypocrisy knows no bounds, I'm afraid.

Not sure you are being fair

Now, as you know, I am the first to criticize "conveniently compassionate white men." Okay, maybe not the first, but I do it. But I am not sure you are being completely fair. I am not sure how you are finding the ethnicity of the Media Matters staff, but Solange Uwimana is a black woman if her picture here is any indication. I would assume that someone named "Shah" would be Iranian (?). Susan Lin could be Asian based on the last name. Have no idea about many of the others. Few have Hispanic sounding names but neither does Bill Richardson.

Having said that, though, it is always my belief that there is plenty of good non-white male talent out there. Hopefully if no one else recruits it, I sure hope we can!

The Village has defined the diversity narrative for 2008: it’s the Great Estrogen Hope against the Pleasant Negro. The Establishment White Guy fits the neighborhood but not the narrative. And the Latino has to wait his turn.
