Conservatives love to speak in forked tongues when it comes to gay outings and gay rights

This is unbelievable. Captain's Quarters has published a response to BlogActive's outing of Senator Larry Craig by saying, and I quote "the left hates gays".

Uneffingbelievable.

Once again, the Left shows its obsession with sexuality, but it's really more than that. The Left obsesses over identity politics in all forms, and that obsession comes out in pathological terms. Rogers reveals this in his blog post, demanding that gay staffers on the Hill identify their orientation publicly, or else he will do it for them. Sexual identity is everything to him, and the concept of sexual privacy has no value to him at all. He wants to humiliate gays who prefer to keep their sexual activity private, forcing them to wear the virtual pink triangle against their will to experience obloquy and castigation.

I love this. Captain Ed is basically acknowledging the senator is gay but saying that because he is being outed, Rogers gay activism is wrong and proof the left hates gays.

Cognitive disassociation, anyone?

Which political party has been hijacked by extremist theocrats and pushed legislation against gay marriage?

Which political party has been hijacked by extremist theocrats and has run this country on vilifying gays and feminists as the moral opposites of the "family values" people?

Which political party has been hijacked by extremist theocrats that pushed for a military and business culture of "don't ask, don't tell" rules that keep millions of men and women in danger of losing their hard earned pension and workers benefits?

Which political party has been hijacked by extremist theocrats that has "faith based initiatives" from children's boot camps to "readjustment therapy circles" that supposedly "cure" people from their gay disease?

I could go on and on about the hypocrisy of these people. What really irritates me is the hypocrisy of their "respect for sexual privacy". Really? So good intentions is enough? Haven't we been down this road before, when in this blog I criticized liberal bloggers for their use of "good intentions" as a way to clear themselves of responsibility for their actions?

What is DOMA but an all out attack on gays? They can't marry, they can't automatically inherit pension funds or property. Not only can't gays get medical insurance while living together, but they can't automatically make medical decisions for their partners should one of them becomes incapable of making those decisions for themselves.

The hell of the Schiavo's has nothing on the hell of hundreds of thousands of gay couples who have to go through the excrutiating process of having an estranged parent or relative come into a hospital to vouchsafe for a decision that ought to fall on their partners in the first place.

If you really want to respect people's sexual privacy then don't mix your religion with your politics in order to pass legislation against other people's lives in the first place.

Conservatives. What a bunch of hypocrites.

And by the way, here's Michael in action bitch-slapping Bill O'Reilley on the very issue of outing.

Or maybe...

Is it possible that there are quite a few anti-queer bigots on both sides of the aisle? As someone who follows queer rights pretty closely, it's not just Republicans (although it's fair to say that it's more likely than not). But to generalize that the problem is simply that there are closeted gay congresspeople (as Rogers contends) is incredibly disrespectful to the millions and millions of closeted homosexuals who DON'T pass anti-queer legislation and DON'T have (or take) inappropriate relationships with minors.

If these congressmen that Rogers wants to out have been having these kinds of relations, then by all means they should be outed - not as gay, but as PEDOPHILES. MAYBE it's appropriate to out them if they're hypocritically supporting the DOMA (although I can see both sides of that issue). But coming out is a personal decision which should generally left to the PERSON COMING OUT. If a legislator has something that's not hurting anyone that they want kept private, then keep your blogs off of their personal life.
