High on Jamaican patriarchy

Are there any Jamaican in da houze? Because Sydney McGill from Jamaica Gleaner News - Parenting girls to be good wives - Wednesday | March 29, 2006 needs to get a good whooping upside the head :

RAISING GIRLS to be good mothers and wives is quite a tricky thing if you do not have a good man in the house. On the bright side, daughters learn home economics from their mothers. Mothers teach what they know: how to cook, clean, wash, spread beds and personal hygiene. But mothers' obsession with a good education for her daughters seem even more important than homemaking skills.

The article is a not-so-maskede jab at women who spread their negative views of men upon their daughters, much like an infection.

Geezus!

This is the kind of crap we have to deal with in our part of the colorsphere. The difference between this guy and his US counterparts is that in the US negroes have learned not to speak this shit in too loud a voice for fear of losing their political correctedness.

And seriously, how many black women do read calling sexist patriarchal pigs like this one out? In my book there is only one : Pam Spaulding. If you have a list of more people, please send them my way.

The fact of the matter is that we're so busy fighting "The (Wo)Man" that we rarely smack blacks of dubiosity like Sydney McGill or Condoleeza Rice or Al Sharpton for fear of weakening "the cause" ... whatever that means.
