It looks like rape charges will be dropped against the Duke Lacrosse players

This is going to be really interesting. It seems like the charges against the three Duke University Lacrosse team members will be dropped.

Duke Lacrosse

I think that the false accuser has done alot of damage. Besides the harm she has done to the accused Duke students and their families, she now makes it harder for every sexual assualt victim to get justice. I don't know what her motivation was, and I hope she can get help. I think she has two children.

The university faculty, the so-called group of 88, and the university administration really screwed up on this one also. They turned the case into something that they could use to promote their separatist and racist ideology. They used that poor woman to promote their political views, it backfired, and victims of sexual assualt will pay the price in this country for ever more.

The prosecutor's actions have harmed us too. His race baiting methods to garner votes in the Durham community won him the election. But at what cost to us all?

Just think of walking into a police station to report a sexual assault now. Just think of calling 911 and having to talk to the first officer that arrives on the scene. With the coverage that this case is getting there will be a wall of skepticism between us and the investigating officials. Great.

We were lied to, and people used those lies to promote their own agendas. The end result is that there will be no protection and no justice for anyone.

(((( thunderous clapping ))))

I completely agree with you with one caveat --there was supposedly evidence that she had been assaulted. I think she was, but not by those guys. Was it someone else in the house? That's the fucked up part of this story ---to many people ran to call them rapists will too few bothered to gather evidence, cull facts and, ultimately, bothered to find the truth of what happened.

I didn't notice you call her false accusser

I harshly disagree with you on this one. I don't think she's falsely accused anybody. I do believe something happened but that she may have been misguided and probably misdirected in presenting her case. Whatever happened to her may have not been 'rape' in the legal sense of the word but that's the word used by her and the original DA, Mike Nifong.

Curiosity

Alrighty, I'll bite. Exactly what are you referring to when you state that there was evidence she was assaulted? I've been following the case near the beginning and I haven't seen any substantiated evidence for such a conclusion. I guess you could argue the fact that the semen of 5 men were found on her, in her, and on her clothes could be problematic, but that dosen't point to an assault necessarily. Even the SANE report which nifong originally quoted as being 'consistent' with an assault later showed that only difuse swelling was found and that it indicated sexual intercourse. It was only consistent with an assault because the accuser had claimed she had not had sexual relations with anyone in over a week's time.

Words to live by

...We've gone from first to twelfth in world wages. We've had four years where we have produced no private sector jobs. Most people are working harder for less money than they were making ten years ago.

It is because we are in the grip of a failed economic theory. And this decision you are about to make better be about what kind of economic theory you want, not just people saying I'm going to go fix it but what are we going to do? I think what we have to do is invest in American jobs, American education, control American health care costs, and bring the American people together again.
