No wonder Australia is considered the village idiot of the Western world

I was going to write a way more politically incorrect title but decided against it. The mentally challenged ought not be insulted by a comparison with the unfortunately elected idiot, aka Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard.

Anyway, there's no need to add to the Barack-lash. This one makes it's own sauce.

On Sunday, Mr Howard told Channel 9: "If I were running al-Qaida in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and be praying as many times as possible for a victory, not only for Obama but also for the Democrats."

Senator Obama replied by challenging Mr Howard to boost Australian troop numbers by 20,000 in Iraq from the 1400 there now if he supported the war so strongly.

"Otherwise, it's just a bunch of empty rhetoric," he said. "I think it's flattering that one of George Bush's allies on the other side of the world started attacking me the day after I announced."

BTW, Howard is supposed to be great friends with Bush. By his remarks, it kind of shows how these would get along.

Yet, the more pressing issue ought to be : What does it say of the people of the United States and Australia to have as leaders a George Bush and a John Howard?

village idiot??

Come on now, since when has Australia been known as the village idiot? All I ever hear is people wanting to move there and visit there and meet Australians and usually everyone says how nice we are, john Howard is an embarrassingly moronic person but the rest of us are a pretty decent bunch.

:cheers

See my comment below

As people who face people's ire at our idiot president, Americans understand how it is to be represented by idiots.

Adage played out

Hey Liza
Every heard the adage "The narrower the mind, the broader the statement"? Your comment is stupid. You need to get out more.

Don't feel bad...

We have to put up with being confronted with the fall out of Bush's stupidity every time we travel aborad. I even was accosted by an irate old woman in Japan who yelled "Kill Bush!" at me and wasn't satisfied until I said, in my best Japanese, that I hate Bush, too.

Americans get all kinds of nasty comments about us in general thanks to our stupid President. Welcome to the club. And welcome to the blog.

A Monash Survey!

As a Monash Uni Alumni I was sent a National Statistics survey covering Aussie expat "talents" and the "brain-drain issue" in Aust. They wanted to know what would lure me back to Australia instead of working overseas. The options were:

A) Money
B) Lifestyle
C) Social support
D) Multiculturalism
E) Other..Please specify

I got all my friend to pick (E) and specified:

GET rid of John Howard and its right wing conservative government who is only interested in reversing multiculturalism with xenophobia, I'd happily come back for FREE!

If you get this Survey, do the world a favor, ask for JH to Advance Australia by Leaving!

Front-runners are usually focused on racing each other. They often do not realize that when people cannot decide between two leading candidates -- and it doesn't matter whether we are talking about politicians or consumer appliances -- our decision can be subtly swayed by whoever is in third place.

Psychologists call this the decoy effect: In a perfectly rational world, third candidates should only siphon votes away from one or both of the leading contenders. Under no circumstances should they cause the vote share of either front-runner to increase. In the actual world, however, third candidates regularly have the unintended effect of making one of the front-runners look better than before in the minds of undecided voters.
