The networking of violence through biology

Milan Babic, a former Croatian Serb leader commits suicide in a prison cell in The Hague and I cannot find it in my heart to give the man a minute of silence. No, what I find is rage, pure blind rage because the repercussions of his actions are but a glimpse of what could become the future of this country.

Babic was tried and imprisoned for crimes against humanities; some of the including the politically sanctioned raping of thousands of Bosnian women by Serbian soldiers. It ought not to be taken as a coincidence that the only other suicide case at The Hague was of Slavko Dokmanovic, another Croatian Serb leader.

UNICEF created a report about the Bosnian rape babies that allegedly has been blocked by the country and not been published. You can read about it at Bosnian Institute News: Bosnia's rape babies: abandoned by their families, forgotten by the state:

In July this year, UNICEF in Bosnia commissioned a report on the children born as a result of war rape. It is the first time any organisation has focused on these children. The report, however, remains unpublished.

Marijana Senjak, a psychologist working for the NGO Medica in Zenica, which assists women who have been abused, says ' A lot of politicians have taken advantage of the women's plight and used the issues of war rape for their own ends. The state has done nothing to organise a unified response to women's needs.

"It has used war rape as a political tool and a means to get money, nothing else."

Now here is a thought I want you to consider : reproductive violence and forced pregnancies point to an archaic yet very real form of network war founded on biology. Bio-networks are the last dominionist frontier and the technologies of reproduction, epidemiology and personal autonomy are going to be the biggest and bloodiest battlegrounds of this war. And they are all going to happen here in the United States.

I am going to be writing about networks for a while and from different points of views. This idea, of genetics as a political network, is something I want to delve in more; espcially in view of the rush to strike down abortion laws in this country.
