End the Gag Rule!

From Engender Health:

I have donated to Engender Health since before they were called that! Great organization. From their website:

EngenderHealth is a leading international reproductive health organization working to improve the quality of health care in the world’s poorest communities. EngenderHealth empowers people to make informed choices about contraception, trains health providers to make motherhood safer, promotes gender equity, enhances the quality of HIV and AIDS services, and advocates for positive policy change. The non-profit organization works in partnership with governments, institutions, communities, and health care professionals in more than 25 countries around the world. Over 65 years, EngenderHealth has reached more than 100 million people to help them realize a better life.

You can help advocate for them by signing up here.

QUOTES

I treat my writing like a privilege. It comes after editing the work of others and helping children learn proper grammar while developing their own style and voice. It comes after making sure my child's homework is done and making sure she is fed, clothes, and educated. It comes after everything. Scraps of stories and poems languish , missing deadlines and submission dates. There is no room of my own. My writing is interrupted constantly by requests and vacuuming and cries for food and attention and I feel guilty saying no, I am working on something that is mine. Thus I devalue my own work, my own voice.
