McCain's Extremism Emerges

This doesn't need much commentary. John "Escalation" McCain, the man who would be King after King George II, is touting his extremism. From the Washington Post:

"I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned," the Arizona senator told about 800 people in South Carolina, one of the early voting states.

Wingnut. I don't know why he is a hero to so many. I mean his record from Vietnam was very brave and honorable. But since he got screwed from behind by Bush and Rove he has been worse than useless. Now he is just another barking crazy rightwinger with no respect for our troops or the Constitution.

Our hostess no longer posts

Our hostess no longer posts my comments. I assume it's because I tear to shreds the pathetic post-colonial western guilt approach that is at the root of this site. So have fun. You all deserve to see your daughters in burkas some day. However, your daughters do not deserve such a fate. So I'll continue fighting for them, even though you don't care.

What do you mean?

First off, fool, sign up and your comments go up without moderation. Or is that too difficult to you. Rush hasn't sent you those instructions, so you don't know how to do it, I guess.

Second, your comments come up regularly. So what are you complaining about?

Third, in what way do you tear anything to shreds? You post dumb, unsupported Republican talking points, most of which are outdated by years, then when we rebut everything you say you don't respond. Seems like you get crushed by the complete lack of logic behind your statements.

Finally, as to your suggestion that somehow we are aiding the terrorists, you seem not to have noticed that it is your Idol Bush who has been consistently aiding and abetting the terrorists by ignoring the warnings from Bill Clinton (remember, the guy who was accused of being "obsessed with al-Qaeda), the FBI and the CIA, obsessing on Iraq instead (one of the most SECULAR of Muslim nations), and standing by while extremists call the shots in Saudi Arabia, and gain ground in Bahrain, Somalia, Afghanistan and Pakistan, just to name a few of the places al-Qaeda is GAINING ground while Bush does nothing. Bush's failure to work towards cutting off funding to al-Qaeda (something Clinton had put in place at the end of his Presidency and Bush then blocked as soon as he got in), his support for Saudi Arabia and his complete and utter failure to defeat the terrorists on ANY front are what is contributing to the rising fundamentalist Caliphate. Thanks to Bush, extremists are winning in Bahrain, won in Somalia then were driven out by Ethiopia, with Bush barely noticing, are resurgent in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and have, for the first time, become established in Iraq.

All of which I have written about before, urging an abandonment of the insane McCain/Bush/Lieberman war of lies in Iraq (you never DID answer why we were there in the first place, Mr. Republican Talking Point, or what our exit strategy is) and a resumption of the war against al-Qaeda, the group that actually attacked us. Meanwhile your boy Bush's best friends are the extremist Saudis whose oppression of women is far beyond anything Iraq and Iran have done for decades. So don't give me crap about enabling terrorists. Bush is the number one enabler of al-Qaeda in the world today.

I don't think so

I don't think that McCain is that extreme.

mole333's picture

Sorry to disabuse you, but...

McCain is mostly playing to the far right, as outlined here.

Both Could Be True

though -- that he is not that extreme AND is mostly playing to the far right. As primary positioning strategy. Isn't that what this part of the process supposedly is all about?

Look at his record

His record has been quite extremist. In many ways more logical than the current Bush insanity, but always pretty extreme. Ironically he has spent years trying to appear more moderate, now finding he has to come back home to the extreme right to pick up support. But his voting record shows:

consistently anti-choice and anti-women's rights,

consistent support for tax breaks for the wealthy,

largely consisntent anti-first and fourth amendment rights,

mostly loved by John Birch Society, the "Christian" Coalition and "Concerned" Women of America,

anti-alternative energy,

largely anti-union,

low ratings from AARP and DMI,

and an ironically low rating from most Veteran's groups ("D" rating from Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, for example).

He seems more mixed on environmental issues.

By and large his votes line up solidly with the most reactionary of Republicans, though with some exceptions.

You can see how various organizations (left and right) rank his voting record by clicking here.

Words to live by

"As a Christian, a trained engineer and scientist, and a professor at Emory University, I am embarrassed by Superintendent Kathy Cox's attempt to censor and distort the education of Georgia's students.... There is no need to teach that stars can fall out of the sky and land on a flat Earth in order to defend our religious faith."

— -- Jimmy Carter, in a statement criticizing proposals to strike the word evolution from Georgia's science curriculum, replacing it with the less accurate term, "biological changes over time"; Cox complains that the word evolution is "a negative buzzword";
