Physicist Bill Foster Wins IL-14 Congressional Race: Dennis Hastert's seat is now Blue

The IL-14 Congressional District has been safe Republican for many, many years. Until recently it was the safe seat of none other than pedophile protector Dennis Hastert. Hastert finally resigned in disgrace, following in the footsteps of disgraced Republicans Tom DeLay and Mark Foley.

Today, March 8th, was a special election to replace Hastert. This safe seat has just been won by DEMOCRAT Bill Foster. This is a huge blow to the Republican Party and may just mean the downfall of Tom Cole, the Republican in charge of the National Republican Congressional Committee. The NRCC has spent about 30% of their total cash on hand on this election. The DCCC has spent about 3% of their total cash on hand to back Foster. And now Foster has won.

With 94% of the votes counted, Foster is leading Republican Jim Oberweis 53% to 47%. In a majority Republican district!

Bill Foster isn't just any Democrat. He was a successful businessman, who started a business quite young which now supplies the lighting equipment for most theaters. He then went on to become an eminent physicist at Fermilab. This guy is smart, a great manager and brings an understanding of science to Congress. We need that these days.

Welcome to Congress, Bill. Congratulations. And to Tom Cole, Dennis Hastert, and Jim Oberweis: it is time you learned your lesson. Corruption and fear mongering do not win in the long term.

Meant Blow to Republican Party...

I was writing in great excitement. It was a really amazing win not just defeating Republican corruption, but actually making Congress better by bringing in such an intelligent and capable persion.

What Surprises Me

It's amazing that Hastert was able to hold the seat after protecting a pedophile.

Yep

Somehow the Republicans work that way. They defend their most corrupt members and even stood up for Foley for YEARS after they knew he was a pedophile. But, eventually even Hastert had to resign.

Tsahal

We give Israel over $3 billion a year, almost automatically. The country has 7 million people. The US government gives Israel $428 per year per per Israeli. For comparison, recall the uproar in the US when the President gave tax rebates of $300 to the American citizens who paid the taxes in the first place.

Yes, America will get involved, and America should get involved. We bought the rights to meddle in Israel's affairs. We bought Israel the military they are using to attack others, and the United States shares the blame for the attacks from the victim's standpoint, even though the Us opposes those attacks. If Israel doesn't appreciate our involvement, they can return the money. I won't hold my breath.
