Republicans Admit Defeat in War on Terrorism: Bill Frist begs Taliban to retake Afghanistan

For some time I have been writing about the fact that Bush has lost the war on terrorism and has, in fact, pretty much been enabling the rise of a new, extremist Caliphate that aims to control lands from Africa to Pakistan (and hence to have a nuclear capability). Some of my writings even came to the attention of BBC radio some time back.

Well, now even Republican Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is admitting that the Republicans have lost the war against terrorism. From Salon.com:

Frist: Taliban Should Be in Afghan Gov't

By JIM KRANE Associated Press Writer

October 02,2006 | QALAT, Afghanistan -- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan war against Taliban guerrillas can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Islamic militia and its supporters into the Afghan government.

The Tennessee Republican said he learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated on the battlefield.

"You need to bring them into a more transparent type of government," Frist said during a brief visit to a U.S. and Romanian military base in the southern Taliban stronghold of Qalat. "And if that's accomplished, we'll be successful."

Afghanistan is suffering its heaviest insurgent attacks since a U.S.-led military force toppled the Taliban in late 2001 for harboring al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

The Taliban and their al-Qaeda allies are stronger than ever. They continue to be supported by the Saudi Wahabi extremists who also support other terrorist regimes like Hamas and Hezbollah...yet who we practically worship because they control the flow of oil. Their allies in the Sudan remain in control, committing genocide right beneath our noses with little action from Bush. And they have recently been joined by a like-minded government of extremists who have taken over in the Sudan.

Meanwhile, America and its allies have become so weak under Bush that Republican Donald Rumsfeld says we are losing the PR war because of inferior technology, George Bush himself admits that we are now in a perpetual quagmire of wars, and Republican Bill Frist now advocates begging the Taliban to help us stabilize Afghanistan.

Pitiful. Absolutely pitiful. Clearly the Republican Party is more interested in protecting sexual predators than in protecting Americans from terrorism.

Words to live by

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.
