Let Jim Webb deliver the State of Union Address response live from the Congressional floor

I have come to depend on Brad Friedman's mailings on everything having to do with Diebold's voting machines. So it is with great curiosity that I read a missive that contained this:

I am calling on Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to keep next week's joint session of Congress open after Bush's speech to allow Jim Webb, who has smartly been selected to deliver the Democratic Response, to deliver it live to the full Congressional chamber instead of via the usual, limp, in-studio response with no audience, which few even bother to actually watch.

Go read his article at Congressional Dems - You're a Co-Equal Branch, the State of the Union Address is the Perfect Opportunity to Point That.

Oh my ... Jim Webb live on the floor of Congress giving a retort to George Bush. Can you picture that one?

Oh my.

Here's Ms. Pelosi's contact information if you need it :

email address confirmation

that address is as posted on pelosi's website,
however it's possible that the server has been inundated by active, engaged citizenry (has liza given that talk yet?)

there is also a webform option, at

http://www.house.gov/pelosi/contact/contact.html

usually such things have auto-reply enabled, so one can tell that an email has successfully been sent.

hmmm. i received this email from NARAL today. i'm not sure i like it much. there's just enough ignorance in it to piss me off. i mean, what century are we in that "latinos" and black women are the *only* women of color? what happened to asian, arabs and native women? and the three "pillars" that are being organized around, community control, holistic health, and positive motherhood, sound like they have been re-written by some over anxious white dude who doesn't want to piss off the white women who support NARAL (established women of color org's *do* organize around these things, it just sounds like the fierce women of color language has been co-opted). and the email title is as follows: " It's time to Recognize! the reproductive health needs of women of color". ummm, is it really time? forty years after women of color started organizing on their own because white women couldn't bear to make us a part of the movement, it is *finally* time?
grrr.
