The new BlogSheroes : Feminist Bloggers Network is up

I wish I had the means to develop, write and publish blogs the way people with more commercial blog networks go about it. It is truly a labor of love and dedication to build a politically slanted, feminist written network of blogs. That's why I have not been blogging as often as I would have like to about Alito and the behind-the-scenes SCOTUS politics. I've been working to build a showcase site for not just the members of the ad network but the best feminist blogs and networks out there; and just in time for the Alito hearings.

Welcome to the new improved BlogSheroes. Now with 30% more feminism | BlogSheroes

When I first thought of BlogSheroes with Nichelle Stephens, we looked at it more as an opportunity for women bloggers to network personally through meetups. Organizing monthly events and having people come to them regularly though, is job all to itself.

Then Henry Copeland of BlogAds gave me the opportunity to put together and manage a feminist bloggers ad network.

When we first spoke, the idea was that, once the sites were clustered with this network interface, presto! the advertising would begin. This being an experiment that started last year and has yet to show any return proves that women, and especially feminists, need a different approach to not justpromoting themselves but creating sustainable support systems that are in line with our political values. That's why, even though I still feel the meetings are needed, I believe that the explosion of women networks and the success of BlogHer point me to what my gut instincts have been telling me all along : We need to focus on feminist bloggers as a different kind of new media writer, more different than just progressive or liberal bloggers.

This site does not have all the answers but it hopes to work to discover most of them among the communities of women and men who call themselves not only progressives but feminists as well. It is an exciting second beginning and I hope you all decide to stay with us and help this project grow.

Please go take a look it and let me know what you think.

Congratulations! Agreed that women need to be more engaged in self-promotion and promoting each other. Blogoliciousville tends to reinscrie the same hierarchical networks as the rest of the world, though, so it's tough slogging.

Put me on your list of people with skills that can be put to good use: web design, development; PR writing, marketing, etc.

Thanks!

I definitely need a few contributing editors that may help in trolling information about alternative business models and applicable resources as well as creating a recommended list of bloggers, with reviews and all.

Words to live by

"I believe in a wall between church and state so high that no one can climb over it.

"When religion controls government, political liberty dies; and when government controls religion, religious liberty perishes.

"Every American has the constitutional right not to be taxed or have his tax money expended for the establishment of religion.

"For too long the issue of government aid to church related organizations has been a divisive force in our society and in the Congress. It has erected communication barriers among our religions and fostered intolerance."
