We're in the middle of an upgrade

I've upgraded the site to the latest Drupal. If you come on over and look around, you will find some new interesting features. I still have a lot to do, but just wanted to put it out there for you to try and see if you figure out what's new. Also, I am going to change the design a bit. I am adding a fourth colum to the left and pulling to the front all the blogging tools you have tucked away and in your account pages. It's been very confusing to people how to post articles and were to find their blogging tools. Well, with the new collapsible blocks (oops, gave away one of the new features), we'll be able to have more stuff in the front but without the clutter. So let's make this a forum of wishlists. What do you wish for? BTW : I had to flush the cache and the logs to do this upgrade. You will notice it says there's only a few people online. That should be corrected in the next couple of hours. Also, apologies for any inconvenience the dumping of the logs and cache (and maybe anything you were writing at the time) may have caused to any of you.

A Firefox display problem?

Everything looks good on the front page column display to me, EXCEPT that strangely, the "counter stories" left margin prints over into the middle column (the poll or google ads_ - it's consistent and not corrected by refreshing or reopening, ever since the upgrade notice the other day. I use Mozilla Firefox if that matters . . .
Not complaining, just thought the feedback might be a useful clue to something or other? Smiling

On the Up-side though

the image insertion into blogs is GREAT! WOW! So for the first time ever, technically clumsy JJ was easily able to post a web image into her story!

This satisfies a long-standing desire of mine, don't be surprised if I image-add all over the place now that I can do . . . just tell me when you want me to stop!

DID YOU SEE THAT!

And also the collapsible boxes. Being able to open and close stuff so there's not so much clutter is just deamy.

There's more goodies in here but I am still testing them.

That's a design issue I have to deal with

No biggie.

How do you like the collapsible boxes? If you go to the colum of boxes, you can open and close them by clicking on their titles.

So, where ever there is a TRIANGLE on the side of a blox or list, you can open and close it.

YES! Found that first

and of course opened and closed everything several times, just because I COULD! 8-)

QUOTE problem - author info all gone?

Liza, all my quotes are missing the author info. S I can't identify any of them now, both links and text seem completely inaccesible (hopefully not deleted and gone for good though??)

That author page needs a serious redesign

I'll look into it, but I really want to just redesign the whole thing.

Problem - My Bottoms are lost!

Liza - as links are followed back here to particular posts of mine, I'm finding there's no way to read the whole essay, not even for me in my own account. It just stops in the middle of a sentence and there's no way (that I've tried yet) to read the rest, or even find it. I can't click on the head to "open" the whole thing, nor are any of the bottom icons for "read the rest" or "read more" - I assume the upgrade will fix this eventually but meanwhile, ack!?

Example

In this column for example:
http://www.culturekitchen.com/jj_ross/blog/defense_against_the_dark_arts...

There IS a more button showing on my blog's homepage, but when you click it, only part of the essay shows up below, still not the whole thing, and then it just cuts off in the middle of a sentence. There are several paragraphs "more" that I know ought to be there, but aren't.

No, it may be that the permissions were not ported

Or, in human speak, I might have forgotten to flip the switch.

Create New Blog?

Hi Liza, I just popped over to sign up for Culture Kitchen and wouldn't mind blogging here...if I could figure out how to create a blog! It's giving me an access denied error, the one with the "Oh No!" graphic.

liza's picture

Hey!

I've been caught up with tech work. I'll make sure I set you up tonight.

Welcome home Smiling

Words to live by

"Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must approve the homage of reason rather than of blind-folded fear. Do not be frightened from this inquiry by any fear of its consequences.... If it end in a belief that there is no god, you will find incitements to virtue in the comfort and pleasantness you feel in its exercise and in the love of others it will procure for you."
