Right Wing to Alaska: You Don't Matter. Only Exxon Matters.

I am sure many readers read with disgust the Supreme Court's decision to let Exxon/Mobil off the hook for the Valdez oil disaster, which devastated Alaska's coastline. This just reminds us YET AGAIN that America doesn't matter to the right wing Republicans. Only big oil companies, Halliburton and cronyism matters to these fools.

Here is a video of Alaska's Democratic Congressional Candidate, Diane Benson's, response to the recent Exxon/Valdez decision:

And here is a statement from Alaska's Democratic Senate Candidate, Mark Begich:

“The thousands of Alaskans whose lives were devastated by this disaster are hurt, once again, by this ruling," Begich said. "What we’re seeing today is another example of how Washington is out of touch with real people. The justices have sided with corporate America rather than with Alaska families who have suffered for nearly 20 years.”

BRINGING EVANGELIST HELEN UKPABIO TO JUSTICE/CAMPAIGN UPDATE

On Friday July 3 2009 some officers from the Nigeria Police went to the Child's Right and Rehabilitation Network center,www.crarn.org, in Eket Akwa Ibom State where children alleged to be witches are kept and are being catered for to arrest Sam Ituama and others in charge of the Center. It took several hours to establish who actually sent these officers and why .After several phone calls to Abuja, Lagos and Uyo, it was confirmed that the officers came from Ikoyi in Lagos to arrest Sam and others following a petition from the Calabar based evangelist and head of the Liberty Gospel Church, Helen Ukpabio. Helen petitioned Sam and the rest for making fraudulent confessions, threatening her life etc. Sam was not at the center when the officers arrived, so they arrested Sam's wife Ellie and a member of the staff, Eseme, and took them to the police station in Eket where they were detained. I called the Inspector General of Police(IGP) in Abuja and informed him of the arrest. I later got through to and informed the Commissioner of Police in Uyo Akwa Ibom and the Divisional Police Officer in Eket. Friends from the Amnesty International -who were in the country on a fact finding mission-and Stepping Stones Nigeria joined in making calls and alerting the police. Later the IGP ordered that Ellie and Eseme be released.

Is there something to investigate about Sarah Palin?

Gee, these threats from Sarah Palin's lawyers makes me speculate that there is something to investigate about whether Palin embezzled funds in the construction of the Wasilla sports arena:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0709/24521.html#ixzz0KMqAULUQ&C

The Shakespearean phrase "Methinks thou doest protest too much" comes to mind when people like Palin feel they have to threaten people about investigating her. Generally, innocent people are much more open about things. Conversely, such posturing and overreacting to speculation that we are seeing from Palin's lawyers does tend to make people speculate about what Palin has to hide and if it has anything to do with her unexpected and poorly delivered resignation.

QUOTES

Because our cultural mirror is cruel:

"Maybe this all seems funny, or trivial, but it's really not. It's about what girls want to be, what they're told they should be, and how they feel about who they are. . . I don't want them to be empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones; I'd rather they be independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny -- a thousand things before 'thin.'

I'd rather they didn't give a gust of stinking chihuahua flatulence whether the woman standing next to them has fleshier knees than they do.

Let my girls be Hermiones, rather than Pansy Parkinsons.
Let them never be Stupid Girls. Rant over."
