Ed Morrissey is an idiot
Ed Morrissey of Captain's Quarters is one of the republicans I have been monitoring for a while since he seems to echo the fear of many republicans : That McCain against Obama would be toast and that nothing would be better for uniting the Republican party against one common enemy than to have Hillary Clinton win the nomination.
So what does the big pussy do? He goes out of his way to create a non-story out of this image :
.
Doesn't matter that the fucking office is not a headquarter for the Obama campaign. All it takes is a volunteer to be there for the wingnuts to go crazy.
At least Robert Farley over at Lawyers, Guns and Money puts their idiocy into perspective.
All am waiting is for the sHillarybots to smell the batshit and join in the attacks.
Someone pass the popcorn.

President Huckabee?
Republicans are not shitting their pants over the prospect of a christian conservative like Mike Huckabee winning the GOP nomination. Their shitting their pants because Chuck Norris gave his hearty endorsement to the Huck*.
Chuck Norris fact : He can lead a horse to water and make it drink.
Hence, the GOP is fucked.
Here's Willian Krystol over at The New York Times
The best answer came, not surprisingly, from the best Republican campaigner so far — Mike Huckabee. He began by calmly mentioning his and Obama’s contrasting views on issues from guns to life to same-sex marriage. This served to remind Republicans that these contrasts have been central to G.O.P. success over the last quarter-century, and to suggest that Huckabee could credibly and comfortably make the socially conservative case in an electorally advantageous way.
Huckabee went on to pay tribute to Obama for his ability “to touch at the core of something Americans want†in seeming to move beyond partisanship. And, he added, Senator Obama is “a likable person who has excited people about wanting to vote who have not voted in the past.†Huckabee was of course aware that in praising Obama he was recommending himself.
I was watching the debate at the home of a savvy, moderately conservative New Hampshire Republican. It was at this moment that he turned to me and said: “You know, I’ve been a huge skeptic about Huckabee. I’m still not voting for him Tuesday. But I’ve got to say — I like him. And I wonder — could he be our strongest nominee?â€
Andrew Sullivan muses about a one-term McCain presidency with Huckabee as his sidekick and successor. Over at The Wall Street Journal Henry Olsen claims that Huckabee's win in Iowa is a turning point for the GOP and a time to ask themselves if they want to become a Christian Democratic party.
Well ... at least he is incredibly liberal (for a conservative) when it comes to immigration.
President Huckabee? I need some dramatic chipmunk to go with that :

Today I will rant away about Tom Tancredo on NPRs News and Notes' Blogger Round Table
Farai Chideya must love my evil laughter because once again I join another episode of NPRs News and Notes' Blogger Roundtable. And grock knows it's going to be difficult not to laugh. One of the topics we may be discussing? Tom Tancredo.
Tom Tancreado refused to appear on Univisión's Foro Republicano because he's against the "balkanization" of the United States. You can find his intellectually weak rationalization on this TV news interview. While watching that piece of genius, I stumbled upon an actual interpretation of his annoucement put together by a group called "Team Tancredo" (which may or may not be affiliated to the candidate) :
I honestly can't believe these guys are serious. Do we need to remind Tom Tancredo, the son-of-immigrant Italians, and his team to never go there? Two can play that game. Worst part? The following is a "real life" clip :
American Dream | Bigotry | Class | Ethnicity | Immigration | Race | White Mythology | 2008 Presidential Elections | GOP | Italy | News and Notes | NPR | Republican Party | South America | Tom Tancredo
Why I love immigration as a wedge issue?
Have you seen the Tom Tancredo ad about how Central American gangs are taking over the United States and he's the only one brave enough to stop them?
Here's the jewel in the son-of-Italian immigrants anti-immigrant crown :
The word "immigration" may have an official definition in dictionaries, yet as a meme it continues to be written and expanded to proportions that are truly mythical.
Tell me if the rabble of Tancredo's rouse is not reminiscent of JR Tolkien's army of Orcs?
Come to think of it, I can understand why the Elvish-looking Tancredo is worried.
Yet, let's look at this closely shall we. As a building block in the narrative of the "immigration" meme, what Tancredo and his team have concocted in that ad is rather impressive.

Someone inside the GOP really hates them
The calendar maker of the GOP has got to be rounded up and ... ahem ... dealt with. He or she must have missed the memo that no one at the GOP wants the party to be associated with George Bush.
Yet here we are with a calendar in which his face appears 23 times, five of those with his wife and her Joker lips. Condoleezza, Alberto and Karl are conspicuously absent.
The most interesting inclusion, and proof that the calendar maker hates the GOP, is Dick Cheney. The Lord of Darkness makes an appearance in October, the month known for the cryptopagan American celebration of spooks, goblins and demons.
Now that is snark.
The photograph is hilarious and creepy at the same time. Who knew Dick Cheney's face --not him-- had the ability to smile. What is he smiling about or at, we don't know. It can't be the heavens --we know puppies died in the making of that smirk.
A smirk that is hilarious because ... I don't know why but this Dick Cheney kind of reminds me of Bill Gates, the Prince of Darkness. The L. O. D. is looking a little geeky, in a Silicon Valley meets Redmond sort of way.
Apologies to all the hackers hurt in the making of that comparison. I do think it's what makes that picture creepily funny.
H/T to Matt Ortega.

Google and the republican ads : What are they trying to tell us?
It is said that Google Ads is run by algorithms that are turning everything Google into the closest thing to a web powered 'artificial intelligence'. I think they actually have a good act going there and that they do have some level of editorial control over what ads go in and out of a web property, just the same way they've become keen at editorializing the GoogleNews front page.
If not, how would you explain such 'on topic' advertising for "republican ass biters"?

Liveblogging the PBS Republican Candidates Forum
Oh hell no!
Did Tom Joyner diss Giuliani, Romney and all the others that snubbed the forum AND gave a shout out to the Jena Six?
CORNELL! The baddest muddafrugger in the house!
Ok, I am shocked right now that Brownback has said that the United States needs to draft legislation apologizing for slavery. This is the same man that wants to ban abortion top to bottom.
Bob Cox just said, "i think we can agree that Alan Keyes is Tavis Smiley's revenge on the GOP".
AWESOME!
I want to smack Tom Tancredo. And I really want to rough up that asshole called Alan Keyes.
It is official, Tom Tancredo with his anti-immigrant rants, and with his equating the welfare system with being black, has officially become the most hateful guy of the night.
The only half congent think Keyes has said : "GWB focused too much on democracy in Iraq instead of focusin on security here in the US".
Huckabee and Brownback are the only ones that come across as moderates ... that is, until they open their mouths to talk about abortion.
POST DEBATE COMMENTS
There are so many candidates in the republican side that I am actually quite happy that neither Romney, Giuiliani, Thompson and MacCain stayed home.
I think that Huckabee and Brownback had a chance to shine. Huckabee lost me when the talked about the "abortion genocide". That comment was so extreme that I am going to have to give the forum/debate to Brownback --and he's as hateful on abortion and gay rights as the worse of them.

What do you drink during a Republican Presidential Forum on PBS?

I was thinking of alcohol. Like massive amounts of rum or tequila, but I am afraid I may fall asleep faster than you say Al-Qaeda, so I am actually doing a double espresso with a shot of milk ... un cortado as we say in the isla.
What about you? Come on over to the chat room and tell us all about it.

The true meaning of conservatism
Conservatives have always supported intrusive government, they have always endangered Americans by aggravating other countries, and they have always been very happy to collect taxes from ordinary working people and use that tax money to fatten the Malefactors of Great Wealth while depriving the rest of us of our freedoms. Those same people conned a number of libertarian-minded young people in the '70s and '80s into believing that conservatism was liberalism and vice-versa because a few intolerant lefties went overboard in their objections to morally reprehensible expressions of racism and sexism. I would have thought these kids would have grown up by now and realized that they're still paying taxes but under the Republicans they're getting less for them - and that's before the bill for all that "strong defense" comes due. How dumb they have to be to think it makes sense to be both Republican and gay after all this just doesn't bear thinking about.
