Whose profitting from the bird flu hysteria?

"We live in poverty, without any basic facilities and no one coming to enquire about our problems. All of a sudden all the television crew, media persons and doctors wearing surgical masks are roaming our dirt roads to collect more statistics. Our chickens were our only source of income and now they have destroyed even that. Is this what is called governance?"

Would you give us a recap of what you've already covered
in your site? Open a blog, publish it and I'll put in the front-page. I am particularly interested in following up on that Grain article and what part may the agri-engineering business may be having behind the shutting down of family farms. Like, are they pushing the governments to only allow breeding of genetic versions they deem 'safe' of the flu?
I've read about what Monsanto is doing with rice and wheat grain in Iraq and India and it's totally disgusting how they're using the monopoly of certain patented bio-engineered grains to exploit family farming in the region.

Bird flu is a tragedy and
Bird flu is a tragedy and the farmers are suffering a lot.
Our chickens were our only source of income and now they have destroyed even that- this is how most poultry farmers in South Asia feel. Now bird flu is coming to pakistan (http://www.southasiabiz.com/2006/04/possible_impact_of_bird_flu_in.html) and I wish that the government of Pakistan come forward to help the poor farmers.
