SOTUA - State of the Union Address
George Bush's last State of the Union Address
I can't believe this is the last time we will ever hear George W. Bush lying to the country.
I am glad it will be the last time I will have to hold the urge to barf seeing all the Democrats cheering the motherfucker.
BTW : I can't believe I missed this Letterman bit about Shrub's oratorial gifts.

Introduction to Drum Major Institute's breakdown of the 2007 State of the Union Address
Drum Major Institute has just released a 21-page long analysis (in blog parlance this would be a fisking), of George W. Bush's State of the Union Address. I have no idea if they did this last year but the velocity with which they've put this together is unprecedented.
I am reprinting only the Introduction to the report, which you can read online at DMI on the 2007 State of the Union or download as a PDF here.

Introduction | DMI’s 2007 State of the Union Analysis
DMI Staff
There was little for current and aspiring middle-class Americans in tonight’s State of the Union Address.
On the domestic front, which is the concern of this report, President Bush wavered between promoting ideologically driven experiments to fix our most pressing problems and offering such detailed proposals that the larger challenges were obscured.
When it came to health care, the President opted to push an aggressive ideological agenda on the backs of middle-class Americans, offering “market-based†proposals that treat health care as if it were any other commodity and fail to address the real reasons behind its ballooning costs. On the economy, the President wants to reduce the deficit while maintaining his tax cuts that favor the very wealthy.

This has got to be the most racist SOTUA yet and Democrats ought not be given George W. Bush a standing ovation
Bush will not give up his jingoistic campaign for controlling the largest oil supplies of the world. I have never, ever heard this man talk such vile, racist bullcrap on the floor of Congress.
This is not a State of The Union Address.
This is a propagandistic attempt to continue the war on Iraq for control of the Middle East. He will do anything to continue full throttle on all military operations and he will do so by any means.
Bush not only has equated Mexicans coming over the border with terrorists, but has outline a vision of islamic holy hell that he needs to obliterate to 'save' America.
This is stomach turning.

Bush has a pre-programmed lie for the State of the Union Address?
Just go this from Bob Fertik this morning:
EXPOSED! Bush's SOTU Big Lie
On the eve of Bush's State of the Union, five different news organzations (ABC, the New York Sun, Reuters, FOX News, and CBS) all revealed the stunning tale of a plot by Al Zarqawi to send 10-20 terrorists to the United States using student visas.
The only problem? It's pure bullshit that was rejected by the entire intelligence community. And Karl Rove's fingerprints are all over it.
But the story will be the centerpiece of Bush's State of the Union and will dominate the news for days.
Will Congressional Democrats fall for the last-minute SOTU bullshit?
Or will they demand sworn testimony - and the original forged documents upon which the whole fantasy rests?
Keep track of the story over Democrats.com.

Who's up for a Chat Party Tonight?
I'm going to skip the SOTUA parties and just down my own mojitos at home while covering the State of the Union Address. I was invited to a private chat party, but this being the internets and me being a multi-tasker, I can also host my own chat party.
The fun thing about the chatrooms we have here is that they are archivable. So all I have to do is cut-and-paste the highlights on a blog post after we're done tearing down the Shrub.

Let Jim Webb deliver the State of Union Address response live from the Congressional floor
I have come to depend on Brad Friedman's mailings on everything having to do with Diebold's voting machines. So it is with great curiosity that I read a missive that contained this:
I am calling on Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to keep next week's joint session of Congress open after Bush's speech to allow Jim Webb, who has smartly been selected to deliver the Democratic Response, to deliver it live to the full Congressional chamber instead of via the usual, limp, in-studio response with no audience, which few even bother to actually watch.
Go read his article at Congressional Dems - You're a Co-Equal Branch, the State of the Union Address is the Perfect Opportunity to Point That.
Oh my ... Jim Webb live on the floor of Congress giving a retort to George Bush. Can you picture that one?
Oh my.
